Weather Lantern

Weather Lantern using CircuitPython

This is a project that I have been working on and off again for a while. Weather has always fascinated me and I like being able to track things like temperature, humidity, and pressure. As a pilot, we are always concerned about the weather and I really enjoy teaching that part in my ground schools. So of course I wanted to make something that would be relevant to the weather around me.

For Christmas in 2019 my sister gave me these Storm Glass which is supposed to predict the weather. As you can imagine, these do not really work. But I thought, maybe I can upgrade them with some more reliable tech to improve it. And so the weather lantern was born. The idea was to use a Circuit Playground Express and the built in temperature sensor on that to sense the ambient temperature. That was version 1. Version 2 actually moved to a Adafruit CLUE board which upgrades the sensors to include temp, humidity and pressure. In addition I added a lighting sensor as well.

I will post some additional information later but for now the link below will take you to the GitHub repository I am using for this.
